When they looked, Agni had arrived. He, like both entangled, seemed furious.

Mirfah used the distraction to break himself free from Tommy's grasp and got up quickly. Agni ignored them and walked towards him.

 

Agni: ... Mirfah.

Mirfah: What?! Are you going to judge me too?! Are you going to say that I'm wrong too?! WELL THEN, BE MY GUEST!! AFTER ALL, I'M JUST A BRAT, RIGHT?! FOR YOUR INFORMATION, YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A-

 

He was interrupted by a fist, going right on his face. Mirfah felt the pain, but the anger was dwindling.

 

Mirfah: Gah...!!

Agni: I have only three things to say to you. First... you're right. You're a brat. Look at you, screaming like an idiot, causing all this turmoil for nothing. I don't think I have to say that your little bickering would have caused us even bigger problems.

Mirfah: B-But...!!

Agni: Second... I'm not here to judge you, say that you're wrong or anything. I fully understand that you got lost. It's normal, this city is a maze. It's the first time we stepped in here and this is so different that distractions are inevitable. And lastly...

 

Agni went towards him once again. Mirfah was ready for another fist, but Agni just put his hand on the shoulder.

 

Agni: ... I'm glad that nothing happened to you while being lost. It may not matter to you, but I was worried.

Mirfah: Agni... I'm... I'm sorry.

 

Agni gave him a nod and began to walk back towards the direction he came. He gave them a look, still serious.

 

Agni: Lize, Nemesis and Tommy. I'm not the leader in this party and this might seem bossy from me, but I want an explanation of what happened here once we arrive at the destination.

Lize: A-Agni, look... it's just that...

Agni: If our teamwork is so faulty like this, there has to be something I can do for making it better, even if slightly. This error was for me to learn that I must be more attentive to you all, instead of going on as if everything's fine. If I overlooked this, I'm sorry.

Lize: I-It's not your fault, it's-

Agni: Let's get going. I don't want to keep them waiting too much for me to return.

 

Agni continued to walk back. Elizabeth and Mirfah, who were both enraged a second ago, fell silent and followed him. They knew how wrong they were and the trouble they caused... after all, Agni seemed really mad. At them and at himself.

 

Nemesis looked on silently, taking note of him and his actions.

Nemesis: (So, they all seem to listen to him as though he's some kind of...deity...and they follow him like sheep. Just what is their relationship with him? It seems to be something beyond a mere friendship...I suppose I'll have to find out later.)

With that, she turned away and walked off, intent on finding what she wanted within the city.

If Elizabeth and Nemesis were both angry at him, all that judgment has pissed off Mirfah. He was no longer at the point of control, as he would just ramble and speak. Even Tommy, who was trying to defend him, wasn't spared...

 

Mirfah: Friends?! FRIENDS?! What are you, stupid?! All of them... they think you're a NUISANCE!! Or is that colorful world of yours something completely beautiful for you to ignore that?!

Lize: M-Mirfah, quiet down!! I know he's a little different, but-

Mirfah: I'M NOT TALKING TO YOU!! PIPE DOWN!!

Lize: Honestly, this little...

 

After this, he finally turned to Nemesis. She and Elizabeth have been badmouthing him all this time, so he wanted to make sure he wouldn't just stay quiet about this.

 

Mirfah: And lastly, you. What are you, Ms. Perfect?! Do you excel on everything just so you can look down on every mistake of others?! Of course you are, SINCE YOU JUST SCREAM AT EVERY SINGLE HELLISH POINT SOMEONE DOES!! IF IT'S DIFFERENT FROM THE WAY YOU ACT, IT'S NOT GOOD?! TO HELL WITH THAT!!

 

Furious, he turned his back at them and began to walk alone. He didn't even care if he was going in the wrong direction again, as long as they weren't near him and someone else would come after him, it'd be fine.

 

Mirfah: I take back what I said. I'd prefer to be lost at this point than being found by you. If you're so unhappy to have wasted your precious time looking for me, then don't worry. IN THE NEXT TIME, DON'T COME AFTER ME!! IF I'M IN DANGER, LET ME DIE FOR WHATEVER YOU CARE!!

Lize: You... you UNGRATEFUL LITTLE BRAT...!!

Nemesis remained silent. One less party member to deal with to her. She placed a hand upon Lizzy's shoulder after he left.

Nemesis: If he wants to be alone, that's fine; he can be alone for as looooong as he wants! I'm not going to waste anymore time with him if he doesn't want to be around us; I have my own things to take care of, anyway. 

She started to walk off, but turned back towards them.

Nemesis: I'll meet up with you two back at the Warrior's Hangout, okay?

Lize: N-Nemesis, why don't we take Mirfah along with us right now? Tommy, make sure you don't stay behind too.

 

Elizabeth pushed Mirfah away as they went through the road. She wouldn't just snap at him in front of someone, that would be disgraceful.

 

Nemesis nodded, knowing full well what she was planning.

Nemesis: Certainly!

She turned to look at the male in the coat.

Nemesis: Thanks for finding him for us. I don't suppose you'll be heading to the Warrior's Hangout as well?

Mirfah decided to follow the kind stranger to the designed location of the meeting. He had no other choices other than this, so he just went along.

Nemesis would be able to spot Mirfah through the crowds in the distance, the anger beginning to well up inside her. She quickly quelled it, however, and started to approach him, waving her right sleeve in the air.

Nemesis: Mirfah! Over here!

She then noticed the male in the red coat behind him.

Nemesis: Huh, looks like he's made a friend.

He proceeded to continue walking in the same direction he was walking previously. Nemesis walked over to them.

Nemesis: So, that makes two with the same response. Let's hurry up and see if we can't find him right now.

Despite her pleased exterior, she was quietly thinking about what she would do to him when they found him. Maybe pluck his eyebrows slowly, maybe brand him somehow. She couldn't help but chuckle to herself as she started to follow the northeastern main road.

She had to find Mirfah and fast. Not only she was bothered that she had to look after him and the consequential delay, but leaving Agni behind like that was not good... for reasons unknown. Lize: Excuse me, mister. I'm looking for a lost red-haired young man. He's wearing a sort of a black coat, has dark skin and looks annoying. Do you have any information about this person?

Man of Few Words: Saw him going down that road there.

He pointed at the main road going northeast.

Man of Few Words: Looked out of it. Probably not that far along.

Nemesis chuckled quietly, then nodded.

Nemesis: Yeah, let's go. We could probably find some answers about what this place is and what's going on in the process; maybe even try to figure out what these "mutated creatures" are.

Spotting another male in the distance, she began to approach him, making herself seem as welcoming as possible.

Nemesis: Good evening, sir. I'm wondering if you happen to have seen this man...

She proceeded to describe Mirfah to the finest detail to the male, making sure to note his striking red hair. The male nodded.

Observant Man: He stood out like a sore thumb. I saw him travel down the main stretch, headed in that direction.

He pointed towards the main road going in a northeastern direction.

Observant Man: Don't go too far down the road, though; you might wind up in the slums, and that's a really dangerous area to be at, especially for a girl like you!

Nemesis held back a biting remark at his comment, and nodded.

Nemesis: Thank you, I'll keep that in mind! Also, if you don't mind, may I ask you if you know anything about these "heavily mutated creatures"?

He shook his head.

Observant Man: Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to go outside of the city and research them myself, but I do know that the dark substance responsible for it supposedly came from a failed experiment. I would suggest asking an alchemist for more information about it. Luckily, there's a shop not too far from here where one is.

He pointed to a castle towards the northwest. Nemesis looked at it, then nodded.

Nemesis: I'll be sure to check it out when I get the chance. Thanks for all of your help!

Observant Man: Always a pleasure to help a young lady in need!

And with that, Nemesis proceeded to walk back to Lizzy and Tommy.

Nemesis: Okay, we have at least a hint as to where he could be. I'll see if I can ask some others about it, but we should probably follow the road for a while and see if we can find him, or do either of you two have another plan in mind?

For once, Nemesis actually smiled at Tommy.

Nemesis: Glad to see you've changed your mind. Now come on; we might've taken up too much time!

Nemesis, noticing another road splitting off from the main road, proceeded to follow it, trying to keep her distance from the place where she shoved the person that had gotten in her way, knowing that those that witnessed it probably wouldn't be so willing to answer any questions she might ask.

She shot her head back up to glare at Tommy.

Nemesis: Are you here to help find Mirfah, or are you here to goof off and let him stay lost? I don't know about you, but I'd rather make sure our party stays together just in case we're all needed for something because we all came here under very similar circumstances. If you're not going to help, you might as well go to the..."Warrior's Hangout", since you're not going to be very useful otherwise.

Nemesis: Okay, to find this guy, I think we're going to need the help of the locals, so I think we should start by asking them if they've seen him around. Considering how big this place is, I don't think he's gotten very far, so at least one person should have seen him.

Nemesis stormed after him, muttering loudly as she shoved someone out of her way, causing them to fall onto their rear end.They quickly got up and ran off, and a couple of guards were now paying close attention to her. Once at the restaurant, she proceeded to reach up and try to snatch him up by his collar, smiling at the waiter as she did so.

Nemesis: I'm so sorry, he isn't used to life in the city. I deeply apologize for his rudeness.

She began walking alone towards the other end of the street, from where the group came. However, she stopped once she reached the crossroad.

 

Lize: Umm... which way should we go...? Maybe left...?

 

She looked to the other way and saw Nemesis and Tommy going into a direction. She ran and quickly reached them.

 

Lize: Do you mind if I make you company?

Nemesis shrugged. More company wouldn't hurt, especially in an unknown city.

Said nearby restaurant was, as with all of the buildings, a large castle with wide gates at the front, both open and allowing all to access it. Inside, various customers and patrons could be seen eating within a grand hall lined with luxurious red carpets between the various tables covered with silken tablecloths and large, beautiful bouquets and chairs padded with some of the finest pillows money could purchase. Above hung large, breathtaking chandeliers lit with what seemed to be actual candles. There were many waiters and waitresses within aiding in serving food to those who waited, and the food didn't look to be cheap, either. At the entrance stood a waiter in a flawless tuxedo, a cloth draped upon his arm, giving him the image of a true butler. He seemed to be waiting for Tommy to come in, his face expressionless.
